Week 42; August 26, 2014 – There’s Magic in the Air!

It’s been another great week! We've been able to help a lot of people and we’ve had some fun along the way.

Our last P-day was awesome! We went to Europe’s traveling Harry Potter exhibit which was in Norrköping for some reason and it was the coolest thing ever! We got to see all original movie props and learn how they made everything! I can now say I've seen the golden snitch, Harry's wand, and Hagrid’s hut, such a very fulfilling P-day!

We had an incredible experience on Tuesday. We were at a Ward activity and walked to the tram with a new convert named Pontus. Pontus is actually blind and he has an incredible testimony for such a new member. He forgot his bag at the church and we missed the tram going to get it. We ended up walking to the next stop and waiting for the next tram. When we got there, Pontus started talking to this older women named Mariam that was from America! He brought up religion and gave his testimony to her before we could say too much. She was really surprised, but touched that Pontus had started talking to her and shared his testimony. We introduced her to a little about what we did as missionaries during the ride back into town. There was road work going on, so the tram took another route that night. We showed Mariam back to her apartment and she was so thankful for the help that she said that we could come back and teach her more.

We came by on Sunday and taught her the first lesson and challenged her to baptism. She said she would love to be baptized if she still felt right after the next lesson! Finding her was such an incredible opportunity and showed me how much the Lord’s hand is in everything we do. If Pontus hadn't forgot that bag he never would have found her and we never would have been able to teach her. She's an awesome person, and I'm so grateful that God put us where we needed to be to meet her!

Wednesday was awesome! We went to Stockholm to see a conference with Elder Teixeria who is the Area Authority over the church in Europe! He gave one of the best conferences I've ever seen and taught us how to effectively set-up return appointments and ask people about baptism. He also said we will be getting iPads soon, so that was really cool! We've been trying the approaches that he recommended in our contacting efforts as well, and that’s been really effective so far. We just hand people a contact card and ask if they've heard about Mormons. It worked really well this week and we’ve tried his suggestions in every lesson.

I also got to catch up with some old mission friends and I got to see Elder Miles and Elder Forsyth, who are lucky enough to be companions now! I also got to see most of the members of my MTC group and a lot of other friends that I've served with around Sweden, so it was a great day!

We had another great lesson this week with a Dutchman named Eigen. I met him in a pizza place about two months ago and took his number. I've been trying to call him ever since, but he's been very busy with work. He finally switched jobs and now he has time to meet with us! We had our first meeting on Thursday and it went great! He is searching for truth right now and he really enjoyed the message of the restoration. He said he wasn't ready to commit to be baptized, but he would love to start reading the Book of Mormon.

Well, I'm so thankful to be a missionary in Sweden right now. I hope everyone has a wonderful week.  Thanks for reading!
